This morning was a wonderful surprise. While at the gym I decided to use the stair climber, it's been a while since the last stair climber workout. I was excited. After 1003 steps and 61 floors I needed at break. I went into lunges and squats.....then I decided to sit and stretch. Just after a few stretches I was compelled to meditate. Mind you, I have never meditated in public before! I have meditated with Dr. Deepak Chopra, David Ji and other wonder teachers and yogies at the Chopra center, retreats and intimate sessions...... But this my friends .....was much different.
I found a comfortable position on the floor....yes, in the middle of the gym. Before I closed my eyes I caught a few curious souls watching me. As I drifted away the loud gym music and the conversations around me began to decrease as my awareness began to increase.
I acknowledge the music, the conversations and the random footsteps around me. I detached myself from the feelings of inconvenience, shyness, curiosity of people staring at me. I was compelled to go deeper. Through my awareness I was able to correlate this experience into my life.
You see, circumstances in life whether good or bad can be unpreventable. It's the currency of the world. We must learn to detach from the anxiety of circumstances and outcomes. Just like the music and converstations around me, I can't prevent them from happening but I can detach my feelings and expectations from my experience. We have more power than we know in regards to how we intercept information.
You are the sole driver and as the driver you can control the direction you go into. Life itself, will bring you the unexpected traffic, flat tires, accidents etc. Sure you have the choice to stay on the same route or change into a different one. Where would this new route take you? Does it matter? Is your destinations still the same? Does that really matter? No, it doesn't.
According to science the only thing that remains is change. We will come and go, jobs will come and go, relationships will come and go but change is consistant. There is no use in resisting it because change will remain after we are long gone.
Embrace the changes in your life. Live this extraordinary life of change. Welcome the change with acceptances and without resistances. Yes, you do have that much power.
